Mother's Day

Mother's day was... well... refining.

I had prepped myself for disappointment, thinking it'll be a great day no matter what the kids or husband do.

No. Matter. What.

Then Braydon started vomiting. And vomiting. Then pooping. And then more vomiting.
I was so sad. In fact, by 11:00 a.m. I was throwing one helluva pity party.

But God, in all of his kindness, nudged me to confess my ugliness to a dear friend. After I was done heart vomiting, she gently pointed me back to Jesus and spoke hope into my discouragement. It was everything I needed to hear. So with clear eyes and a full heart (Friday Night Lights 4eva) I went back to caring for my family with a joy that was nothing short of miraculous.

The circumstances of our day did get better once Bob got home. We ordered pancakes and coconut cream pie from my favorite diner (and I wonder why I'm not losing weight). We ate all of that gloriousness on the couch, in front of an Army Wives marathon, while Bob tended to the children. I got to do this for two whole hours. I probably Pinterest-ed too, but I can't remember, because I passed out from all of the happiness.

My beautiful Mother's Day gift.
